I've heard many great things about this restaurant and they are all true! Loved this restaurant and the food was delicious. The waiter was impeccable and very informative and attentive. I would definitely suggest and encourage anyone to try this restaurant out!!
Excellent New Years Eve dinner. Great food and service. New years menu was very good. Our server could not have been more accomodating. Another great experience at the best restaurant in the south end!

1st time at Ripe. From the Maitre' D at the door to appetizers, main course and drinks the food was unbelievably delicious, presentation of the food was outstanding. Service was super friendly and efficient. Portion size was large, and the smells there were to die for. We were sitting near the food prep area, and every plate that come out, came with tempting aroma, makes me want to go back again soon to try them all. And Ladies, the sure sign of a great restaurant that pays attention to details, is the temperature of the bathroom. Ripe was nice and warm!!!
I treated myself out for lunch today and decided to check out Ripe. I have been there before, years ago, and my experience was fine. This time around, I was really impressed with the new renovations. Very cool and much better than before! My lunch was tasty, the service was great. My only complaint is the music!! I felt like I was listening to a really bad radio station. In my opinion, the music should reflect on who you are as a restaurant, not just background noise. I'm really hoping to hear something more classy next time...maybe some Chet Baker? Duke Ellington? Nina Simone?
My husband, two guests and I went to Ripe at the beginning of July 2010. I have been there before for both dinner and lunch in the past and have been quite pleased with the food however this last time was a bitter disappointment. We had the (I think it was supposed to be Ribeye) special, the meat was extremely tough, and there was an actual hair in my food (I did not complain though because I did not want to embarass my guests and make a scene) The shrimp appetizer was good, but required alot more bread with it to sop up the liquid base. Overall the quality of the meal was a severe disapointment for the price. Maybe they should just stick to the pizza's. Not sure what happened (maybe a bad night off night) but they really need to go back to the basics from when they first opened, somewhere along the line something got lost here. Dessert was good though.
I was absolutely BLOWN-AWAY by Ripe!!! I have no idea what the negative comments are about! Either they've really shaped up, or that person just had a fluke bad experience becasue my first time at Ripe was one I will remember, and I will DEFINITELY be going back!!! The four of us are all picky in our own rights and evryone was completely satisfied. I cannot wait to try their pizza!! The ppl next to us ordered pizza and that in itself made us want to change our orders! lol We didn`t though, and when our food did arrive, we all coudn`t help but pass our plates around to try everyone`s amazing meals. The room was a little too dimly lit for our taste, but that was the only flaw!
To start off with, it took us 45 minutes to get our drink orders taken, which is pathetic. Then we ordered caesar salad which, once again, took about 20 minutes to come to the table. Our main course took quite a while as well. The portions were toddler sized and did not match the price at all. During the course of the evening, we went through 3 different serving staff, and the last one we had was extremely rude. Our bill came and it was $75 and we were still starving. No one in our party of 8 were satisfied. We will definetly not be returning or recommending.
Decided upon this restaurant for lunch after reading the reviews on this website, usually Restaurantica reviews are spot on. Unfortunately this was the exception. For starters I had the Caesar salad, the lettuce was slightly brown and the croutons were chewy. For the main course I had the Toasty Baguette (chicken sandwich served on a type of french loaf) and a bowl of cauliflower puree. The sandwich had a nice taste and was decent (highlight of the meal). The soup was tasteless and if I wasn't told what it had in it I would have never been able to guess the contents by tasting it. My friend ordered The Eye Thai (whole wheat pasta with mushrooms, snow peas, red pepper, shrimp, balsamic vinegar, coconut milk, cream and green thai paste). Although the dish claimed to have curry as an ingredient we couldn't taste it - the balsamic vinegar over powered the dish. The shrimp was overcooked resulting in a rubbery taste and chewy texture. Our waitress was prompt and courteous - overall service was good. If we were to visit again we would most likely try the pizza. While we were leaving we saw 2 patrons enjoying what looked like very nice pizzas.
Ripe is a favourite of mine. The food is creative and yummy, the service is always good and desert is excellent and homemade. I have tried everything on the menu over the last two years and it is my favourite place to go to on a night out. Good Job to the folks at Ripe!
We had a great lunch. Service was quick. We go often and time is never an issue. We often have to park at the back of the building because they are usually busy for lunch...but it's not a far walk around to the front. We will be back again and again!!
Be sure to make a reservation, but overall food was fast and fantastic. ill be going back very soon.
I enjoy eating at this restaurant. The atmosphere there is calm and relaxing. I like how there are tables on the patio. The service was very good. Our waitress came by often to refill our water glasses. The goat cheese salad was to die for! i was not a huge goat cheese fan before eating this dish! Excellent!! The dessert are very tasty also!
Quite nice. We wanted a quiet table and they sat us beside the bar which was away from the rest of the tables...private. Tasty food and really good service..attentive. We have to ripe before and we will be back!!!
Went for dinner for our anniversary...excellent service, fresh and succulent food offerings, romantic ambience, unique and diverse ingredients...WOW! We both we VERY impressed! Our server even lit the cute little candle for us...
Really good. Creative menu. lots of different things to choose from - not your ordianary franchise restaurant menu. Nice service too! The calamari is the best i've tasted. we will definitely be back. good job!!
We were greeted promptly upon arrival, and were seated and had our drink orders taken. The server was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was very nice, and the prices were quite reasonable.
The Restaurant was so dark we could barely see coming in. The waiter seemed miffed that we wanted to peak at the menu before sitting down. But it was so dark in the entryway that we couldnt see the menu and just took a seet. Menu didnt impress me and the table was cramped and again, had poor lighting.
This was our first visit. We found the service great! The wait staff was great. Water was brought before we had to ask, which is something that I have found hard to get in this town. The meal was perfect, size, portions were just enough! Can't wait for the next visit!!
