Overall it's a nice little pub. The food is good and with some dishes it can be a hit and miss. The cajun chicken wings one time had WAY TOO MUCH seasoning and the next time they were perfect. The third time was the same as the first time but worse.
Our friends had the pizza and it was a complete mess. The pepperoni wasn't cooked all the way and there slices would fall apart when they picked them up. I had the beef dip and man... it was fantastic! The fish and chips I've heard are good too.
The service was pretty good. Nothing note worthy but good. The bartender the one time we were in there apparently doesn't know how to poor beer as he would just sit the glass right underneath the nozzle and let the beer drop into the glass. Obviously this would cause the beer to become flat before it reached the table. And he wasn't draining a the taps either. They served me that beer. I complained it was flat and they brought me another beer.
However another bartender was excellent. He was our server as well and we asked him for recommendations as to what to drink and he brought us some great tasting beer. I wish I could remember the name. My girlfriend also asked him to make her something random. And the drink he made was excellent.
They also have trivia nights on Tuesday and Thursday. We came in second on our first trivia night.
Like I said, it's a nice place to have lunch or dinner.
Fine atmosphere, good food, good service, friendly staff, food was hot, nicely arranged and good. Definately a pub atmosphere, with pub type foods, but definately a keeper.
We ordered drinks - 2 pints of stronggbow, a pint of keiths and a coke. We ended up getting 2 pitchers of strongbow, a pitcher of keiths and no coke. We had 4 at our table and the waitress took drink orders from 2 people and then walked away. I've been there a few times..the food is great but the service is terrible.
We visited this restaurant twice in 2006, the second time by group invitation - otherwise we would not have gone. Both times the food was dreadful. Moreover,I've heard similar reports from other visitors.
The Feathery is horrible!, I got into a conversation with the bartender, I know his name was Tommy, because he didn't stop talking about himself! It was quite annoying. The food was loaded with peppers even though I asked for none. Tommy continued to tell me about the ph of the soil in Hamilton and how it changed over the past 30 years. I couldn't wait for the bill. Don't go!, but if you must go, make sure you don't sit at the bar, because you'll probably get Tommy talking your ear off. What a drag of a place.
