Nothing hot about this spot! Service was poor and could be easily considered inadequate. We had to tell the owner who was serving us those are dirty this we want new ones. He also had taken our previous plates away and expected is us to eat from the platter plates even through it was clear we were sharing. I didnt wait to call him over agian, to ask for serving spoons for each dish. Our meals were lack luster. The owner behaved as if having guest dine in his restaurant was a nuisance.

Christmas dinner with the family review

I am amazed at some of the bad reviews for this restaurant that I decided to write one.. I came with my family recently for a Christmas dinner and we sat at the big table near the bar counter. All of my family members really enjoyed the food. The restaurant was really busy as it was a Friday night, but the service was prompt and we did not have to wait very long for our food. We really liked the ambiance of the place - there were crystal snowflakes dangling from the ceiling, and warm blue lights on the walls. There was even a glass jar with Christmas ornaments in the washroom that my grandmother really liked. I guess their theme was blue.. because every table had a blue orchid on it which was really pretty! We ordered appetizers to share - spring rolls, chicken skewers, baked scallops and the pandan fragrant chicken. The spring rolls were awesome and the avocado butter sauce on the baked scallops was so yummy! My aunt had the Seafood platter all to herself and she really enjoyed the coconut shrimp. We also ordered mains to share - Red seafood curry, thai royal fried rice, Beef pad thai, Spicy chicken in satay sauce, beef short ribs, pan fried veggies. We like spicy stuff so the server recommended the Lion city seafood cuisine and the Sambal noodles. We also ordered the lettuce wraps... I know it is called chicken san choy bau, but we usually just call them lettuce wraps and the server seems to understand! The beef short ribs, lettuce wraps and pad thai were a big hit and the lion city cuisine was very tasty. Not all of us could take the spicy Sambal noodles though... but my mum and stepdad looove spicy food, so the sambal noodles worked for them. We decided to try some of their desserts and had the deep fried cheesecake, creme brulee, bread pudding and mango sticky rice. the cheesecake and creme brulee came with a carved strawberry in the shape of a rose, which was so pretty. the desserts were awesome. if you have room after you are done eating, i would really recommend trying some of their desserts. The only complain i would have for that day would be that it was too noisy, because the restaurant was so busy. and we had to raise our voices a little to be heard over the table. Also, as we were near the counter, there was also a line up for takeout or pickup.. and the phones kept ringing. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience for all of us. Many of the customers that left came up to greet the owners/manager to wish them a Merry Christmas and to let them know that the food was good. I would definitely bring my boyfriend and come back here again.

It went from my favourite to the WORST

I don't have good things to say about this restaurant, but would have at one time... I had been going to this restaurant for maybe 3 or 4 years. I have ordered a few dishes, but mostly the veg. pad thai. This restaurant used to have the most amazing flavour, and I would come from accross town to order one when I wanted a take-away! My boyfriend and I would have a lot of our date nights here. So, needless to say, this review isn't based off of one visit. A few months ago, maybe in the summer (it's Dec. now) I had ordered a veg pad thai to go. I drove 15 mins out to pick it up, and 15 minutes home. Sat down to eat it, and found that it had no flavour, though it was spicy as usual. The noodles were more pale than normal. I assumed they must have forgot something in the recipe. So I actually drove all the way back out, and they fixed it. I heard someone snipe at someone else in the back in a different language. I assume they told off the chef. It tasted better, but not exactly the same. I considered maybe it was a fluke. A couple of months later I ordered the pad thai again. The same thing. This time I was too embarassed to complain again, and quite hungry after work. My boyfriend took them back while I cooked an alternate dinner at home. We got a refund. I figured they might have changed their receipe, maybe a new cook? I decided to give them one more try. After all, I had been coming for years, even after they raised their prices. My boyfriend and I had moved into our first place, and I wanted to treat our friends who had helped us move. I bought a few veg pad thai's. I was not the only one who noticed it was bland. This is where it went from just bad food, to terrible service!! I told the woman there that it was not the same, and that this wasn't my first time experiencing the food like this. They knew it wasn't the first time I had complained, even before complaining they recognized my boyfriend and I as regulars and always greeted us knowing our order. But being regulars didn't matter to them. They told me they never changed their recipe, and that I must have been ordering it mild lately, because in mild they just use sweet and sour sauce (I'm not even joking, chinese take out style sauce, YUK!). Well I have NEVER ordered mild in my life, we love spicy! They continued to argue that it was all in my head. When I finally relented to just settle with adding some sweet and sour sauce (the best they would offer to fix the food), and we were about to go, the woman actually had the gall to say to me "Okay now, you no complain no more!" I swear it's the rudest thing I've ever heard a restaurant manager say. They would not offer any reason for the change in food, or offer to fix it. That cemented my conviction to never return for more food. But what she said to me as we were leaving, that had me soooo put off I knew I had to actually let people know how bad this place has gotten. After coming to this page I know I'm not the only one who feels the same. I would reccomend it to no one, and beyond that I'd tell anyone and everyone to stay away from it. Such a shame.
