4 tips for wrapping gifts from Santa

November 3, 2015

Santa Claus is one of the magical parts of childhood that can be brought alive for children every year. Here are four tips to make holiday gifts look like they're straight out of Santa's workshop.

4 tips for wrapping gifts from Santa

1. Choose extremely flashy or extremely plain paper

  • You want Santa's gift wrap to look distinctly different from the gifts you wrap for people in your family. Your children should be able to spot them immediately. If your family uses wrapping paper in traditional holiday prints, you can go to either extreme to help your Santa packages stand out.
  • Bright white paper adds a hint of mystery to any package and looks fancy when topped with the right ribbon.
  • On the other hand, if your family is going with single-colour wrapping paper, go with a flashy metallic paper or something with bright, bold designs.

2. Add personal elements

  • Kids like to believe that Santa Claus knows them very well, and that includes their interests. Consider the kinds of hobbies your kids like and find gift tags, small toys or ribbon printed in a relevant theme.
  • For instance, if your child loves to draw, fastening the package bow around a holiday-themed pencil will make the present from Santa delightfully personal.

3. Give hints about what's inside

  • Try using embellishments that refer to what's inside the package to get your kids excited. This is especially fun when they are hoping for a special item.
  • Attaching stickers or accessories to the outside of the present that highlight the theme of the gift can kick start an exciting Christmas morning celebration.

4. Place gifts in a special location

  • Placing presents from Santa in a special place that is separate from the rest of the gifts can help children feel like they've stumbled onto something special.
  • Make sure this place is easy for young children to find. You can place an empty cookie plate and milk glass next to the packages, too.
