I can't say enough good things about Fishbone Bistro. Warm ambiance, comfortable seating, and the service made us feel like we were the only table in the room (although the restaurant was fairly full). We had a flaming sausage to start - delicious. The specials were incredible. I ordered a dish that I can't remember the name of, but it was similar to a light seafood stew in an herb broth. Delicious, perfectly cooked food and the flavour was out of this world. Highly recommended! My husband had the whole sea bass. The owner, Pedro, deboned the fish at the table and explained some things about Portuguese cuisine. My son had the steak, and the presentation was like nothing I had seen before! I've been telling everyone I know to check this place out. We didn't have time to try dessert (an excuse to go back)! Hearty portions, excellent wine, beautiful decor.... you have to try it! The food here is very good but only slightly better than the cheaper places in the area. The teppanyaki tables are good. The sushi is fresh. I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. I came to this restaurant for my father's birthday and the food was incredible. It is an authetic portuguese restaurant on James street in Hamilton. For an appetizer we had the Bruchetta, which is baked pizza style bread topped with tomato, onion and garlic. Yumm! For the dish I ate the Filete com arroz, which is fish filete with seafood rice. The dish cost $17 but was really cheap considering the amount of food that was provided. I will definetely return to this restaurant and recommend anyone to try this place. They have a large menu with many options. If you havent tried portuguese food or just love the food, you wont be disappointed at the Wild Orchid. Read more
