This is the location inside the Splendid China Tower, and as corny and lame as the mall sounds, this restaurant really gives you value for your money. For 10$ a person excluding taxes, you get authentic asian style soup (NOT cream of corn or vegetable soup), starter salad, main course, authentic asian dessert (none of that green tea ice cream stuff) AND a large bubble tea drink. The seats and tables are spacious and comfy, the place is ALWAYS clean, the decor is VERY nice, the place doesn't look sketch at all. The selection of main dishes mainly includes rice and noodle dishes. The service is welcoming and friendly. Would visit again. Read more

The food was excellent. Absolutely no complaints about the food. Loved the food. My complaint about this restaurant is its size and decor. We went for lunch on a weekend and there were a lot of customers. The restaurant felt too small and needed a bigger room. The tables and chairs were uncomfortable, especially the design of the chairs. The tables were crowded close together so it felt claustrophobic. Maybe try to get a more comfortable booth near the window. The food is good and that's probably why there are many customers in that medium-small room. Read more

The Congee Star is some of the best Chinese food in Don Mills. For lunch, this place is a zoo! Come early or come late but DON'T come at 12 o'clock and expect a table right away unless you are Jet Li or Jacky Chan. The reason for this is the food is very good. By supper, the office crowd has retreated to the 'burbs from whence they came and getting a table right away is not a problem. Remember though, this is not a fast food factory, good food takes a little time. The beef with ginger and onions is excellent. As is the Cantonese chow mein. The beef brisket on lo mein is very tasty. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Booths are to be found on the outside and tables and chairs are in the middle. Read more
