I am Japanese and I like this restaurant! I have ordered Sushi only. I haven't tried other menus yet. Sushi is good quality and service is good. I pay around 10 dollars for sushi. (5 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of maki rolls) It's very very affordable. If other people complain that it's not the best quality, this is not the place to go. You can't get the best quality for 10 bucks. Please go to restaurant owned by Japanese. However, if you're looking for affordable, decent quality sushi, I highly recommend Bento Box. I've been to 4 other Japanese restaurants in Burlington but I only go to Bento Box now. Read more

Faced with an 8 page menu, exhaustive in its range of enticing descriptions of Japanese and Korean food, I opted to sample the former side by having soup, salad and appetizers (3 as it turned out). I love miso soup and have had incarnations of it in many places in Canada and abroad but this broth was simply fabulous in the depth and complexity of what is often a flat, watery introduction to a meal. The poky salad (fresh tuna, julienned seaweed, etc.) was vibrant, flavourful and spicy as advertised. I started my appetizer foray with mandu yaki (small homemade dumplings with a combo of 8 different ingredients) and tako yaki (fried minced octopus balls with a unagi and katsu sauce on the side). Can you say FABULOUS?. Having washed it all down with warm sake, I rested for a while and then tackled a tempura dish: soft shelled crab (4 pieces) with a ponzu sauce. Cheer again. Service was attentive and friendly and relaxed especially when the young lady and John, the son of the owner realized that I wasn't in a hurry. (I was honoured with a tempura zucchini sample from the owner's garden (in the back he said when I mentioned that he had tomatoes growing in the front). This is simply wonderful food, presented with smiles and pride by people who love doing what they do. I can't wait to return and try some deeply Korean dishes of which there is an abundance on that wide-ranging menu. Read more

I had been to JJ Japanese Thai beforehand and was never disappointed. This was my third visit and I was more than pleased. The restaurant was nicely decorated with beautiful table linens, wall decorations, and pillows. The servers were kind and attentive. Our server, whose name was Alina, was so kind and friendly, she asked us if there was anything we needed on a consistent basis and also provided free ice cream for being such great customers! Ok so Sauga is full of great places, and Axia is one of those great places we always meet friends at when we're in the region. The sushi here is quality and consistent. You can tell right away that they use a higher grade of fish than some of the local AYCE (all-you-can-eat) places. The Dragon rolls and spicy rolls are pretty much different than any other place I've been to which keeps me coming back. The wifey doesn't like sushi, so she likes to stick with the Chinese and Thai food which she absolutely loves. The look and feel is nice, sort of like an outdoorsy theme. Service was friendly and fast and the bill is reasonable for a place like this. Anyways, give Axia a try, it's one of those places that'll keep you coming back for more. Read more

We had chef's special sushi and sashimi plate, caterpillar roll, bibimbab. Everything was fresh, nicely presented. I had thick and fresh cuts of tuna, yellow tail, unagi, and even ikura sushi in the sushi plate, it was a nice selection of nigiri sushi. Caterpillar roll was bigger than I thought, and it came with miso soup and salad. One of my Japanese friend ordered bibimbab, and I didn't know it is served in the heated stone pot, it was very unique. The pot was still hot until we finish our meal! We spend around $60 for 3, considering it was dinner time, I guess it's reasonable price. Also we were seated in Tatami room which was very nice. It seems great for small party around 6 people. Just revisited on a Friday. Luckily, I found parking in their tiny lot, about 20 spots, that it shares with Swiss Chalet. And I'm sure that non-patrons park there too! Positive: The atmosphere is quite nice, dimly lit, tealights at tables. Service is also pleasant. I accidentally tipped over my tea and it was addressed immediately. Not-so-positive: I would say that sushi is *just* okay. When maki rolls arrived, from a distance, it just literally looked like a plate of white rice. Presentation was definitely their weak point. Pieces were not only cut unevenly, but they also fell apart as I picked them up with my chopsticks. Rolls were not rolled tight enough. Instead they were quite large and loose. this is the first time i have ever decided to try out the actual authentic korean BBQ grilling experience instead of the canadian-nized all-you-can grill buffets and ohhh boy was it the best choice of my life! this place is not all you can eat so you only have a choice from eating one type of meat or the other but oh my gooodness, the meat here was sooo tender and juicy with sooooo much flavour to them! i swear to you this place serves up the best Galbi (beef short ribs) i have ever eaten and i'm sooo upset i didn't know about it soooner!! the Galbi here is ACTUAL MEAT, not the blubber stick of fat you'd find at other restaurants! the special grilling dish costs about $40 between 2 people (so basically $20 each) and it is sooo worth it as the portions are sooo huge along with all those side dishes they give you (more than 5! which can be refilled whenever you want) with also a hot stone tofu soup on the side. this place will give you a run for your money! serving on the menu says only for 2 people but can definetly serve up to 4! there was so much stuff left over to eat but in the end i wasn't able to finish it. :( so if you're ever craving for real korean meat, come here! this place realizes QUALITY over QUAINTITY. yum! I've probably been here 3 or 4 times now. I keep coming back because the service is so good! Not to mention the food is fantastic (the complimentary crunchy soup is to die for). The last time I went, my table got the spider roll, seaweed salad, green dragon roll, spicy salmon roll, and some other roll (I can't remember the name). They were delicious! All was served in a sequential manner; we were served complimentary soup immediately as we sat down, then we ordered, after which we were served complimentary green salad while we waited for our rolls. We were never without food! With all that's included with the rolls, the value is really great. Although it's not too impressive from the outside, the inside is pretty good. It's not fancy, but very laid back. I took my grandmother here for her first sushi experience, and she loved it. I had such good service today, that I had to give these guys some publicity! They were so polite and friendly. To the person below, this is Canada. Not Japan or anywhere else in Asia, where their specialties are Asian food. Also didn't help the fact you had high expectations going in which could have affected your overall impression. "Worst sushi" is not something I would use for this restaurant.
