From ceramics and throw pillows to jewellery and household accessories you’ll find all of these – and more – at Boutique Articho, a welcoming hideout on Villeray’s namesake street. “The idea was to showcase the talent and artistry of Montreal’s craftspeople first and foremost, and to complement those products with the work of Quebecois and Canadian artisans,” says jeweller Isabelle Kapsaskis, who runs the shop with her significant other, Mauro Bordet.
“Montreal is a city of multi-talented creators who all make products that have a unique je ne sais quoi about them,” she says. “So with such a pool of interesting items to choose from, we wanted to provide a one-stop shop dedicated to showcasing and promoting these talents to Montrealers.”
Enthusiasm for their project quickly spread through the city’s artisan community. “Before we’d even opened, we had about 30 creators who were vying to get involved with our store, to reserve their spot on our shelves and share their one-of-a-kind products and savoir faire,” says Isabelle.
