You won’t see tutus or tiaras here, but everyone from toddlers to adults gets their dance on at the Cornerstone Studio, a second floor space nestled in the heart of Little India in Toronto’s east end. The studio is warm and vibrant — matching owner Lauren Cook’s energy. “I want everyone to feel at home here,” says Cook, herself a dancer since she was three years old. "There are so many dancers who live (in Toronto) and families who want to embrace dance arts."
Straddling street and contemporary styles, Cornerstone is a hub for professional dancers, beginners and the general public. The studio offers a wide range of dance classes for all ages and abilities, including hip-hop, ballet, jazz, Ghangra, acro, Bollywood and breakdancing. If dance just isn’t your thing, the full-service studio also offers a variety of fitness classes (for both strength and cardio training), personal training, Pilates and yoga sessions designed to help members achieve a healthy and active lifestyle. There are also performing-arts classes for teens and adults designed to develop musical theatre skills and dramatic talents.
