Sarah Chan was working in the corporate world until one day, she realized that she needed to go after her passion. “At home, I always made my own natural masks — you can grind up oatmeal, rice powder, honey, mix it up,” she explains. “And one day I had an epiphany. I was like, ‘I need to go back to school.’” At that point, she had already graduated from university, but she decided to enroll in beauty school and become a skincare specialist.
As a natural and organic beauty and skincare shopper herself, she had noticed a gap in the market. “The main competitors are downtown and there’s no one really uptown that’s specializing in green beauty,” she says. In 2015, she found a lease opening at World Shops on Yonge Street and Doncaster Avenue, and that was her cue to open up shop. Natural Code was born.
