For couples hoping to start a family, struggling with infertility can be devastating. And for Dr. Spence Pentland, the co-founder of Yinstill Reproductive Wellness on Main Street between 19th and 20th, nothing is more important than family. So it makes sense that Dr. Pentland's clinic focuses on providing hope, tools and treatment via traditional Chinese reproductive medicine for women and couples struggling with infertility and “wanting to fulfill their dream of creating a happy, healthy family.”
It also makes sense that Dr. Pentland's wife Chantal is Yinstill's office director and co-founder. Dr. Pentland and all the practitioners at Yinstill are licensed with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of BC and are certified Fellows of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. Their treatments primarily focus on acupuncture and herbal medicine but they also offer lifestyle coaching around diet, exercise and nurturing oneself from a holistic perspective. “After all,” says Dr. Pentland, “fertility is a manifestation of overall health.”
As a father, he says, “Being a parent gives me such an understanding of what our patients are trying to fulfill. And that intention goes into every needle, choice or recommendation that I make.” As for the Yinstill team, “They all have young families and a number of the people here have had their own journeys through infertility struggles so there's definitely a level of compassion and understanding.”
