His eponymous Yaletown barbershop harkens back to another era with its black-and-white checkerboard floors, bright swirling barber poles and oversized leather club chairs. This signature deluxe hot shave ($35) is a multi-step process involving hot towels, essential oils, rich moisturizing cream and a sharp straightedge blade. Ice-cold towels are applied afterwards to close the pores and the face is massaged with a soothing after-shave balm to finish. Walk-ins are welcome but the shop can get busy on weekends so call ahead to book an appointment.
