In August 2013, Jason Landry found himself unemployed and came up with the idea to open his own business. After working for several employers in the past, he wanted to be his own boss and make his own decisions. He loved Quebecois products and realized that the district in which he lived, Mercier, needed something new.
That's when he decided to open Le Permis de Bière, a 100 per cent Quebecois, up-market grocery store specializing in microbrewery beers.
