Initially, it was the field of psychology that attracted Benoit Girard, the young Montreal entrepreneur behind Folles de ménage, a housekeeping service, which he founded in 2014. “I was studying psychology at Vanier College and, at the beginning of my studies, I was not sure if it really was what I wanted to do, so I told myself that if my grades were not satisfactory, I would go into car sales. In the end, my grades were good, but the passion was not there, and so I decided to quit psychology anyway,” he says.
Benoit began studying sales and finance. Then, he worked in automotive sales before moving to furniture and appliances at Brault & Martineau. “A month after my arrival, I was promoted to sales manager because I became the best salesperson at that location,” explains Benoit.
One day, a customer told him about his work, which greatly inspired the founder of Folles de ménage. “He was an entrepreneur and gave me some advice. He told me about promising industries, including housekeeping. It made me smile, because my father and my grandfather were both janitors. Something clicked and I decided to become an entrepreneur in this field.”
