This is our second visit to this restaurant. Food quality was consistently good as our previous visit. Portions are generous, homemade bread is tasty, service is friendly. Our bill that included a bottle of wine, salads, entree, and dessert with tip was $125.00 for two people. While the food quality was good, for this amount of money, the restaurant needs to improve on seating comfort. Do not find the metal bistro style seats very comfortable. Decor needs to be improved. Overall, this restaurant has excellent potential.
Busy even on week nights, reservations a must. The food is the thing. Don't expect a quiet getaway. Niagara wines featured, excellent selection in bargain price range. Soups flavourful, salads great, served with euro style fresh bread. Entrees superb, root veggies all local. Demonstrated local awareness appreciated. Definitely will return
This is the best restaurant! Not only do they grow much of what they serve, they buy the remainder from mostly local sources. In this day and age how can anyone really accept otherwise? The service is warm and wonderful, with a small town charm while the food is on par with many first class restaurants one would expect from an urban centre like New York or Toronto (for a miniscule fraction of the price). I don't know what foodyanna or w/e her name is was on while she was there but the is an OBVIOUS difference between a creamy pasta sauce on the gnocchi and the aioli dollop in the seafood stew. As for claiming the chairs are small...maybe don't order so many dishes with cream in them! All in all a wonderful restaurant worthy of any real foodie's attention.
The chair seats are currently smallish - like ice-cream parlour chairs. No place to hang any coats yet. Must use the back of one's chair. A fairly plain atmosphere at this point. It was quite busy the evening we all went. Our entrees were fairly good, yet we were a bit surprised to observe that the creamy sauces used in both of these quite diverse entrees (a gnocchi dish and a seafood stew) appeared to be very similar in taste and texture.
Food was wonderful and service was professional. I would recommend this beautiful little place for people that are tired of the average mundane food that you get everywhere! There are no french fries on the menu!
went there for my birthday. all the food was local and it has a really homey atmosphere. the meal was a taste and presentation treat from the cranberry bread we started with through the salad, main course and desert. i would return anytime
A lovely lunch! Service was very attentive, food attractively plated and very, very good! Soup (tomato and wild onion) and salad dressings much nicer and freshly make. Will definitely return!
Food was very good - I especially liked the fact that they featured meat from the Good Shepherd Farm in Vineland. Service was excellent - I even had help on a very cold night with parking my car!
We have had the pleasure of dining at August four times over the past several months and have never been disappointed. The dishes are fresh, creative and very flavourful. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. This is the only restaurant in the area that has been so consistenlty great. As ex-Torontonians we highly recommend August Restaurant. It is definitely worth the stop while taking a trip on the Niagara Wine Route!
Dropped in Sunday brunch and everyone was very satisfied. Freshly prepared and served quickly, reasonably priced. Mark behind the counter had a big smile and warm welcome.
Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable staff. Have been there several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recommend the Baked Seafood Gratin for lunch, and the Good Shepherd Farm Feature is always a good choice for dinner.
I had never been in the previous establishment and was nicely surprised by the decor, even though it is somewhat muted and neutral. We had a very nice server, and our meals were perfectly proportioned and yummy! And the cheesecake was delicious.
Wow..what a nice surprise..the place was so clean and bright..service was very good..my breakfast was exceptional..cant wait to go back for breakfast and also try dinner
