"Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to open a jewellery store," recalls Andy Tan, owner of Arbutus Jewellers. Located in the Arbutus Shopping Centre in the Kerrisdale area of Vancouver, Arbutus Jewellers specializes in watch and jewellery repairs, as well as custom-made jewellery. "I find that jewellery and watches can be very unique,” he says, “a very personal expression of someone's personality."

If you don't see what you want in the store, Andy will guide you to his catalogue and order in any item that he can. "We're only a small business, so I can't have everything in my inventory," he laughs. "But usually I can find anything a customer is looking for and order it in."

Or Andy can make it for you. "We do a lot of custom-made jewellery," he says. Including transforming some of your old pieces into a new design. "I do most of the work myself," Andy adds, "but I have other jewellers I can ask if I get really busy and need help." Besides making jewellery, Andy loves to repair pieces and re-size rings for grateful brides-to-be. "We offer good, friendly service and very reasonable prices," he notes.
