As the mom of a professional dancer, Lisa Fisher was beaming with pride in the audience for 17 years as her daughter Danielle, now an instructor at Lisa's studio, performed on stage. “The idea of owning a studio where children are supported and inspired to become better dancers has always been there, but actually buying one didn’t live within me until it was presented,” says Lisa.
So she took the leap in 2012 and has been proudly watching her students grow and develop ever since. “We’re a very family-oriented studio. It’s my goal to know each of my students, and their parents, personally,” says Lisa.
Located on the Surrey and Delta border, DanceWest has been offering competitive and recreational dance training to children between the ages of 3 and 18 since 1979.
“We start with Leap and Learn, a very interactive, ballet-based pre-school program developed by child psychologists and professional dancers,” says Lisa. “It engages the children and teaches them the foundations of dance in a fun environment.”
Regardless of the age at which they enter the world of dance, to build a strong foundation, all students take ballet as one of their first classes. All ballet students at DanceWest have the unique opportunity to perform in a full ballet production as part of the studio’s spring recital.
