Wild Rice Restaurant welcomes you to their establishment. You can also enjoy the sunshine on their terrace. They are open late from Tuesday to Sunday. You can get there by car. They are positioned in a location filled with parks.
In a manner, Wild Rice’s inception began in owner Andrew Wong's childhood kitchen. Andrew used to watch his Chinese grandmother prepare the family’s meals from an early age. It was in the garden of that same home where Andrew's grandmother taught him to grow his own fruits and vegetables.
The concept for Wild Rice truly started taking shape when Andrew was a young adult. He and his then roommate would have late-night, scotch-fueled discussions about opening their own Chinese restaurant, an alternative to the casual Chinese eateries that were the standard in Vancouver at the time.
First time there, I was disappointed. Food for the prices they ask was nothing to write home about Very uncomfortable chairs, switched one and same problem. One unisex washroom where very loud music plays, why?
This New Westminster restaurant boasts a menu based on grandma’s Chinese cooking with a modern West Coast twist (though you’ll still find potstickers and kung pao chicken on offer). Wild Rice only serves certified Ocean Wise seafood and local hormone-free meat, and all the dishes are served to share “family style.”
Are you a vegetarian and in the mood for contemporary Chinese food? Look no further than this refined gem in the River Market. Wild Rice has a spacious and bright interior that’s big enough to fit a crowd, and it serves lots of smaller dishes to share with friends. The tasty Asian-inspired menu is made with ingredients that are local, farm-fresh, sustainable and in-season, so you can feel good about every dish your order.
Located in the River Market, Wild Rice has stunning views of the mighty Fraser River with ample opportunity to watch tug boats and large ships pass by. The patio is casual and has options for full sun or shade below the tall trees. The restaurant uses locally sourced meats and produce, along with Ocean Wise graded seafood. It produces a West Coast take on many traditional Chinese dishes, along with a number of western favourites.
